KAZAKHSTAN’S 2026 HARVEST CAMPAIGN IS UNDERWAY

Kazakhstan’s 2026 harvest campaign is progressing across the country, with wheat, barley, oilseeds, pulses and other agricultural crops entering the market as the new crop becomes available. As of late August, farmers had harvested 5.5 million hectares of grain crops and produced 7.7 million tonnes of grain. Early quality results are encouraging, with 78% of newly received soft wheat classified as Grade 3. Harvesting of oilseeds, vegetables and other crops is also continuing, while the rice harvest has now started in the Kyzylorda region.

Kazakhstan’s 2026 Harvest Campaign Is Underway

Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector has entered the active phase of the 2026 harvest campaign, with harvesting operations progressing across the country. The new crop is gradually entering the market, creating new opportunities for domestic processing and international trade.Grain Harvest ProgressAccording to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture, as of August 28, 2026, farmers had harvested approximately 5.5 million hectares of grain crops, representing 35.5% of the total grain area.The harvested volume had reached approximately 7.7 million tonnes, with an average yield of around 14 centners per hectare.Early quality results for the new wheat crop are encouraging. More than 1 million tonnes of grain had already been delivered to licensed grain-receiving facilities. Of the soft wheat received, 78% was classified as Grade 3, while 14% was Grade 4. In addition, 56% had gluten content above 28%.Oilseeds and Other CropsHarvesting is also progressing for oilseeds, vegetables, melons and potatoes.By August 28, approximately 244,000 tonnes of oilseeds had been harvested, together with more than 1.9 million tonnes of vegetables and approximately 795,000 tonnes of potatoes.Rice Harvest BeginsThe 2026 rice harvest has begun in the Kyzylorda Region, Kazakhstan’s main rice-producing area. Approximately 90% of Kazakhstan’s rice production is concentrated in the region, where around 70,100 hectares were planted with rice this year.New Crop, New Export OpportunitiesThe arrival of the new crop is increasing the availability of agricultural commodities for both domestic and international markets.Kazakhstan exported approximately 13.9 million tonnes of grain and flour in grain equivalent from September 2025 through July 30, 2026, demonstrating the country’s strong position in regional agricultural trade.The ongoing harvest provides international buyers with opportunities to source new-crop wheat, barley, oilseeds, rice and other agricultural commodities directly from Kazakhstan.Kaz Agro Engineering continues to monitor crop availability, quality and market conditions and works with international partners to provide reliable sourcing and export solutions.
